September 19, 2014

Dear Terry, Still no Dad. I don't know where he is. I keep sleeping in his spot on the couch. I know he is going to come home. Mom said so. I still miss him. Penny Cat does too. She told me. I did get to see Grammy today! She and Mom went to see Dad. Mom didn't bring Dad home. When Mom came home, she let me out on the deck. I fell asleep. This business of watching the house when Dad isn't here is hard work! Even Penny Cat said so. While I was asleep I heard a bzzzzzz. I know what that is! the angry bees are back!! I ran inside barking and barking and got Mom right away. She came to see what all the noise was about and I showed her the bees! I went inside like she said to and watched from the door. She killed some of them with spray. She said she will kill them all tonight when they are in the nest. Mom said they aren't really bees but mean and angry yellow jackets. I don't care what they are called, all I know is that I don't want to be stung on the mouth again. Mom said Don't worry Fred, I will make sure they are really gone this time! I think she meant it too!

I was really pooped out!

September 16, 2014

Dear Terry, Something is going on here. I don't know what! But something is. Mom is packing stuff. But my special bag isn't out and Penny Cat's special bag isn't out. Mom is only packing Dad's stuff. Dad must be going somewhere. Dad is nervous. I can tell.  I'm good at telling stuff. Only I don't know where he could be going. Dad is always here. Always. I know because I keep him company. Mom said he's going away for a few days because he needs to get better. Well, he can get better here if you ask me. No one ever does ask me though, probably because I'm a dog. When he gets back I'll take care of him. Mom made Dad smile because she went to the Cheeseburger Palace like he asked her too! I hope Dad comes back smiling.

Dear Terry, OOOO Mom and Dad had a fight! Over a corn cob! Dad gave me the whole corn after he was done eating. What a great treat. All kinds of buttery goodness left over on there. Mom said HEY! No way should he have a corn cob! And it's making a mess all over the place! Dad said let him have it! I agreed with Dad on this one even though we know it's Mom that is always right. I took the corn and ran! Dad found me though and took the corn away.  Not before I ate a bunch of corn and butter off of there! YUMMY!

Dear Terry, Whew! I am pooped out! First I had to take care of Dad today. He was sleeping so I had to keep watch over him and I didn't sleep. Then me and Mom took a really long walk in the woods. We saw lots of stuff in the woods and we walked slow so we didn't miss anything at all. And if that wasn't enough excitement, when we got home Dad fired up the Cheeseburger Machine to make Burgers! And if you think the excitement was over with that, think again! Dad made me a Mutt Burger all of my own! It had cheese and everything on it! Mom put it on my snack plate so I could eat at the same time they ate. YUMMY! What a great Day!

Dear Terry, Today, Mom brought home the best gift EVER and it was for ME! All for ME! Know what it was? Nope not a new cat. Not a new collar either. Nope not another dog. Not a Moozle either. It was a smoked bone from the BUTCHER. Mom said she picked it out special for me! You should smell it. All kinds of meaty goodness. It has lots of meat on it. I've never had one before. Mom said there were all kinds of bones there in a big box called "Dog Bones." Bones as big as my head even! There were even whole pigs feet. Mom said those were too gross to touch. Mom got me ribs. She said that they had the most smoked meat on them. She was right! Mom says I have to be careful eating them. I haven't even gotten through all the meat yet. YUMMY. I am real careful when I chew on my chew sticks. Every single bit gets totally chewed up and gummy before I swallow it down. I'm doing the same with my Butcher Bone. Mom says he makes them special for people like Mom who have dogs. Can you imagine? A whole box of bones just for dogs! I cannot describe what a good day this is!

Hope you have a good day too!

Love, FredDog

September 11, 2014

Dear Terry, Today didn't start out so good. Me and Mom woke up and went outside and it poured rain and I got all wet. Mom had to wipe me off a little bit when we got back in the house. Penny Cat won't come near me when I'm all wet. But things got a lot better when Pap showed up to take Dad somewhere! I was so excited to see my Pap that I ran and ran and spinned and spinned and barked and barked! Then when they came back Pap came in again! What a great day this was because I got to see Pap twice!

Dear Terry, Sorry we haven't written. Me and Mom have been busy. We went for a walk the other day. It was almost nighttime when we went to the park and we saw quite a few critters. Me and Mom chased a bunny. I kindof forgot Mom was attached to the leash and I RAN as soon as that bunny flew out under my nose. But he ran into the ground. I dug at the hole and Mom yelled at me to stop. Then we saw a deer so I barked. And I found a toad by the water so I gave him a nudge into the water and he went SPLOOSH! Oh and I helped Mom make sauce. I like sauce. Mom does all the work but I lay at her feet in case maybe some sauce comes my way. Plus Mom talks to me when she cooks. Penny Cat has been very meowy lately. She tells me all kinds of stuff. Stay off my blanket Fred! Don't eat my food Fred! Mom's going to vacuum Fred! I've been keeping her company though. I don't make her all fluffy scared anymore. Mostly. She gave me a kiss the other morning and I was so excited I peed a little. Just a little. Mom cleaned it right up. Tonight Mom made us all a pizza. Pepperoni! What a surprise! I watched it bake right in the oven. It has a window! How cool is THAT? It's not often Mom makes us a Pizza Party. I got pepperoni from Mom and Dad! It's a good night for a party for sure! I'm going to watch baseball with Dad now. He keeps falling asleep but I keep him company anyways.

September 4, 2014

Dear Terry,  Yesterday me and Dad had some excitement! His sister came Kathy came over! I barked and barked and ran around! Dad was very happy to see her. But then they left and I didn't know what to do. I sat in the window for a long time waiting. Before I knew it Mom came home! But no Dad. Me and Mom walked around outside for awhile. Still no Dad when we got back inside. I sat in the window some more and waited. Mom said he would be home. Mom watched baseball. I waited almost an entire baseball game and then a car pulled in the driveway and it was DAD! I ran and pawed at the door and barked a whole lot! Mom tried to calm me down and finally gave up and we went outside to see Dad get out of the car!! Whew! I thought he would never get home!

Dear Terry, Mom was really busy today. She did a bunch of cleaning and I helped.  We got the stuff out for Fall too. That was fun. We brought up all kinds of stuff from the basement. I helped by watching Penny Cat. She was helping too. Things were going well until Mom brought out that spooky cat cookie jar. It's always looking at me and it's head COMES OFF.  I barked and barked at it. Mom laughed and put it away again. WHEW! And you know what else Mom did? She put out Candy Corn in the ghost dish. I like Candy Corn. Mom wasn't looking and I might have snitched some. Mom turned around and said FRED!!! I took off running. When she caught up to me all the corn was gone so I couldn't get in trouble. I had to learn again about leaving the Candy Corn alone. Sure was good though! I bet Dad will give me some later on!

Dear Terry, There's a scary outside. Someone is having a birthday party. I like parties. Not this one though. This one has a giant air filled hissing inflatible house. It's so scary. It lights up too. And it shakes and the kids all scream and laugh. It looks like a monster to me and it's a few houses away. Now that it's night it is really scary looking. Mom tried to take me outside and I wouldn't leave the porch. We tried to go out the backdoor but as soon as I got to the steps there it was again! Mom says it will be gone in the morning. I hurried up and pee'd and ran back up the steps. It was awful. What kindof party is that!? Mom said she would never get me one so I don't have to worry.

Trying not to be scared....FredDog

Dear Terry, Mom said that Joe is a Pizza Man now. HOW great is THAT? I was thinking that he would be the best Pizza Man EVER. Mom says he is too far away to come here with Pizza. I don't really know how far away you are but you should never be too far from Pizza. Me and Dad agree! Me and Dad have Pizza Parties you know. Joe could bring me, I mean Dad, Pizza and we could all have some together! Mom says that's not how it works. Party Pooper Mom!!

August 28, 2014

Dear Terry,  Guess what me and Dad did last night?? It was draft night. I don't know what that is but I do know it involves a lot of snacks so it must be a holiday. Dad said it has to do with football. I don't know what that is either but Mom always makes snacks for that too. Me and Dad had some chili and chicken nuggets. Dad always gives me the last bite of any of his snacks and I got a whole chicken nugget as the last bite! I tried not to burp too much when Mom got home.....

Dear Terry, Yesterday Me and Mom and Dad took another trip! This time we went to see Gram and Pap! It was very exciting. I knew where we were going as soon as Mom made the turn. I pulled Mom right into the house and there was Pap! I didn't even have to run and look for him, there he was! I found Grammy too. I got to sit in the sunroom with Dad and Pap and listen to them talk while I watched the squirrels outside. We didn't stay too long because Mom had things to do. The next thing we did was to park next to the mailbox in the shopping center. The police yelled at Mom. Mom mailed her letter anyways. I think Dad was a pretty embarassed that the police yelled at Mom. Dad told me Mom parked in a fire lane to mail the letter real quick. Dad said you aren't supposed to do that. Mom did it anyways and got yelled at because the policeman was right there. He yelled at her right from his car and honked his horn and everything.  When Mom got back to the car she was laughing because Dad was upset. Mom said I hurried up and I didn't get a ticket, it's OK! Dad said, It wasn't ok! Wooof!!! It was almost as exciting as seeing Gram and Pap!

August 25, 2014

Dear Terry, You won't believe what I did yesterday! I slept! All day. Mom had to wake me up to take me outside. I did wake up once when Penny Cat came home. That was very exciting because I missed having her around. Mom said I had to leave her alone because she was all wound up from being at the Pet Hotel. So I went back to sleep.  Today, I woke Mom up this morning bright and early though.  I ran to see Penny Cat. She was still sleeping so I left her alone. I ran to see Dad, but he was still sleeping too. I ran back to Mom and tried to get her up. We went outside and when we came back in she went back to sleep! Mom let me out on the deck so that I would leave everyone alone. At least the birdies are up!

August 24, 2014

Dear Terry, Guess what!? Me and Mom and Dad took a trip! Not Penny Cat though. She stayed in the pet hotel. We were in the mountains. I've never seen hills so big! We would go up and down up and down until we finally got to the cabins. I got to see the whole family! the Nephews - they kept me busy and I got plenty of treats. Sue and Pete and Laura. Lots of pets from everyone. Me and Mom walked on all kinds of trails. One trail Aunt Laura was with us and we went wayyyyy far down a hillside to a big creek. We were really far into the woods. It took awhile to get back up to the car but we did it! Every morning me and Mom walked around the pond looking for frogs and toads. There was a turtle who took a swim every day in the pond. I watched the boys fish in there too. I even went down to see what they were doing while they were fishing! Now I know why Mom didn't want me afraid of fishing poles anymore. OH! and best of all me and Mom were sitting on the deck watching the pond and this big bird swooped out of the sky right into the pond and snatched up a big fish!! I've never seen ANYTHING like it! I couldn't even bark I was so surprised. Mom was surprised too. It had made a big SPLASH when it scooped that fish out. Mom said it was a bald eagle. She knew it was because it swooped back over the pond and we could see it real good. Almost forgot! Me and Mom and Dad all went to see all the cool stuff around the cabin. We went to see a mill. Boy was it noisy! The water would make big splashes as it came out of the mill. Mom and Dad talked to the Park Ranger too.  Mom said he is like the park police so I better be good and I sat real quiet and listened to them talk. There were lots of people at the mill and I was allowed to go everywhere and in all the buildings and I met some new people. Oh! one more thing! One day me and Mom went to the Lookout Tower. I was allowed to go inside here too. We went up ALLL the steps. There were a lot of them. And we got to the top and Mom could look out and see all the mountains and take pictures. I couldn't see because I'm short you know. But I could see through the cracks in the walls. I don't think I have ever been up so high off the ground before! What fun! I ran to each corner investigating and looking out where I could. We went to go back out of the tower and I got scared. I told Mom NO WAY am I going back down those steps. They looked too steep and scary. Mom said I had to go. She sat down on the each step and we went down one step at a time so I wasn't scared. Every single day I was POOPED OUT. I would fall asleep on the sofa with the Nephews watching TV. I like the mountains. I liked that I could go just about everywhere with Mom to see stuff and explore. I liked sitting on the big porch in the rain with Dad. I was even allowed to swing on the swing on the porch. What a great time! Good to be home now!

Dear Terry, Guess what! Mom took me for a walk today and we saw lots and lots of butterflies in the butterfly field! Remember when me and Mom took that class and I learned how to be a good dog? That silly teacher told me and Mom that I wasn't allowed to chase butterflies. Mom said that was for the birds and always let's me chase butterflies! I jump and twirl and try and catch them as they all flutter around. There were so many at one time today that it was like a cloud of them! They swirled all around us and I was barking and Mom was laughing. Chasing butterflies is good fun! I'm glad Mom didn't listen to that teacher!

August 15, 2014

Dear Terry,  We are watching baseball. Mom didn't make any snacks tonight. Her and Dad did a bunch of stuff today. So instead of making snacks she went out and brought some snacks back!! Guess what she got??? Well dad got a coffee that smelled like caramel. Mom has ice cream. And I got my own ice cream cone!! Vanilla of course! My favorite. Mom put it in my snack bowl, cone and all. I get to eat my snacks in the living room with Mom and Dad. At first I licked and slurped the ice cream really fast. But I had to slow down because my tongue was cold. Dad said I was going to get brain freeze. I don't know what that is, but I do know how good that ice cream tasted with the cone broken up all through it. Mom really picked a good snack for the game!! Ice cream makes everything better!

Hope you had ice cream today too!

August 12, 2014

Dear Terry, I had a big scary today. It stormed and Dad didn't put my magic no scary shirt on me. And Dad was asleep because he was pooped out from the doctor. And And And the storm came and it was so loud! Dad wasn't waking up to help me! He was in the recliner all stretched out. I tried jumping up there but he was snoring. So I jumped back down and I hid underneath the recliner as far back as I could. Only Dad didn't know I was there and he woke up and almost squished me!! And it was storming still and I panicked. I scared Dad and I scared me. Oh it was just awful! Dad gave me lots of pets once I came back out. He was really sorry. We sat together and watched TV until I calmed down and Dad fell asleep again. Penny Cat doesn't get scared of storms. I wish I could be more like her except then I would be a cat! Woof!

August 10, 2014

Dear Terry, Today Mom and Dad went to a baseball game. Mom put it on the TV for me before she left so I could watch it. I fell asleep. But! When they came home I woke up right away and ran barking to the window. Mom had to go back out but Dad stayed with me and started to get the garbage together. I laid back down on the sofa and guess what!?? Penny Cat came to see MEEEEEEEE. All on her own!!! Oh My Gosh I laid there real still because it was so great to see her and you know what she said to me???? Meow Meow! Like she always does!!  And she turned and walked away!! Penny Cat came to see MEEEEE!!! This has to be about the best day ever!! I didn't bark, I didn't chase her, I didn't do anything at all to make her fluffy or hissy or scared. Dad couldn't wait to tell Mom when she got back in the house. Mom couldn't believe she missed all the fun!

August 9, 2014

Dear Terry, It's me again. Fred. What an exciting time at the park today! The little cottage was open and my pal Pam was inside. She takes care of the park. She showed us the new butterfly display. Pam told Mom that most of the Monarch Butterflies had died all across the country and the park was working with other parks to save them so they can flutter around like before. The butterflies were very fluttery. There were some that hadn't come out yet and a big one flying all around in the special tent. I was allowed to look but I had to be extra special careful and I was. They fly around like magic! I tried to take a pine cone from another display but Mom made me put it back. Then we went hiking up the big hill and all around. Boy was I tired when we got back to the car. Mom gave me a big drink of water. I drank so much there was hardly any left for Mom! When I got home I laid down right in front of the vent for all the cold air. After I cooled off, I ran to find Penny Cat to tell her all about the walk. But I was careful to not get to close to her. We are going to watch some baseball tonight. I bet Mom makes us some good snacks! I hope Penny Cat joins us. I know she would like snacks too!

August 9, 2014

Dear Terry, You won't believe what happened today! Penny Cat hissed at me! Right in my face! Mom said Good for you Penny! I didn't know what to do so I sat down because I think I must have done something bad. Penny Cat doesn't ever hiss at me. Mom said she should hiss more often so I don't chase her. That might have been the problem. Maybe. Penny Cat sure was mad at me though. When I found her again she bonked me right on the nose. I decided I had better leave her alone and I went outside to help Mom water plants. Much safer. I don't want to keep making Penny Car mad. I noticed she gets all fluffy too when she is mad. Mom told me that a fluffy cat means I am going to get swatted on the nose so I had better be careful and nice to Penny Cat.

Trying to be good again, Love, FredDog

P.S. It's me Penny Cat. That crazy Fred. I have had enough of him thinking he can run right at me. Today I hissed really good at him. I don't hiss at Fred because I am trying to be his friend. But I've had enough of him running right at me like a crazy dog. He sat right down. That's what he does when he gets in trouble so I knew it worked. I went to my spot to lay down after that and there he is AGAIN. I thought Mom said he was a quick learner. I slapped him in the face and he went away. I might have to try this more often....

August 7, 2014

Dear Terry, Today was a good and bad bad day. First the bad stuff. Me and Mom and Dad went in the car and I was so excited! I thought we were going for a walk! We went to the VET instead. I wasn't so excited then. When I got in the room, I tried to hide by putting my head on the door and not looking at anyone. It didn't work. First I got weighed. Then the VET, who is a doctor you know, put that stupid light in my eyes and I barked and whined. I'm supposed to be good but who can be good when you have some VET putting a light in your eyes??? Then he looked at my teeth. That part I'm good at because Mom taught me how to open my mouth and let her look in. I got a shot up my nose and it made me sneeze. THEN they took me away from Mom and they TOUCHED MY FEET to trim my nails. I'm kindof freaky about people touching my feet. So I shrieked. Really loud. Pretty soon all the dogs were barking. It was just about the worst thing ever. Things did get better because they took me back to MOM!! I busted right through the door to get to her! Mom gave me a big hug. Things got even better when we were driving home and Mom turned and we went to see Grammy and Pap! Oh it was the best time! I got to eat crepes. Yup crepes! Grammy had made a whole stack of 'em! And Pap was teasing me and I was barking and having a good time! I did accidentally pee on Grams sidewalk and Mom cleaned that up right away. I was still kindof wound up from the other place and couldn't hold it! Mom didn't get mad she just cleaned it right up. I like crepes. That was the good part of the day!

August 3, 2014

Dear Terry, Mom TRICKED ME today. She had a piece of chicken in her hand and walked all through the house and into the bathroom and shut the door!! At first I was too busy eating chicken and then I realized HEY, that only happens when it's BATH TIME. Mom said, Rub-A-Dub-Dub Put the Puppy in the TUB! Oh my gosh I hate getting a bath. My feet get wet!! I'm funny about my feet you know. And Dad helped! I thought he loved me best! UGHHHH! I accidentally scraped Dad on the arm real bad and he was bleeding all over the place. Even that didn't stop Mom from getting me all wet and sudsy. Boy, lots of fur came off. I got Mom back though. As soon as I was allowed out of the tub and before Dad could get a towel on me I stood right in front of Mom and shook all the water off in a big giant spray of water everywhere! Dad's job is to dry me off and he took a big towel and got me pretty dry. Then, I took off running though the upstairs and downstairs and up and down and all around. I don't know why I did that but I always do after a bath. I might have scared Penny Cat by accident. Mom put my collar back on and let me out on the deck in the sunshine to dry off. She even brushed me real good and more fur came off. Hey! My feet are white and sparkly clean again! Well that's at least one good thing about the bath today!

Barks and Wags! FredDog

P.S. It's Penny Cat. FredDog is crazy and Mom is even crazier for giving him a bath. He ran everywhere and almost fell down the steps he was running so hard afterwards. What a wacko! At least he smells clean now. I ran and hid in my old towels just to be on the safe side. He sure was nuts! I've been sleeping at the top of the steps at night and trying to get up the nerve to cuddle in with Dad when he watches TV. But then I hear Fred jingle and I get worried and hide. He sure can bark at night at things and that still scares me. I still think we might be able to be friends one day!

August 2, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! This morning me and Mom walked around the yard and guess what we found?! A corn cob that was under the deck. Mom got pretty mad because she knew it was those raccoons that pulled it off the corn plants up on the deck.  Mom and me ran up to the deck to see what else those raccoons did. There was a second ear of corn missing. Mom got even madder. We got Dad right away.  That's what we do, we get Dad when Mom gets upset. Dad said, Oh No looks like those raccoons had a picnic!  We weren't even invited!  Dad said, Fred, you better wake Mom up tonight if they come on deck again! I don't know about that tonight because me and Mom are snuggled in watching baseball.  I'm still scared from all the storms and fireworks tonight.  Best just to stay under the covers I think.

July 29, 2014

Dear Terry, what a great few days! I got to see Grammy yesterday! I talked, she listened. I had a lot to say ! She gave me good pets too. Dad and Gram went somewhere and when Dad came back, I could tell he had been at the Hot Dog Palace without me again. Hmphh. He knows how much I like them. To make it up to me, he gave me a piece of watermelon.  Good grief that's good stuff!  No seeds because I don't know how to spit. Oh and today me and Mom took another big walk when she got home and we even took a drive around town. When Mom drives I like to put my head on her sholder and she pets me.  It's dark almost so Mom says let's watch some baseball! We sit together or with Dad and we have snacks.  What a fun night!

Barks and wags, FredDog

P.S. Penny Cat starting to like me again.  I'm pretty good at not barking at her now.  I'm still working on trying not to chase her.   Mom says work harder on that Freddie!

July 26, 2014

Dear Terry, Me and Mom had a scary this morning! Mom let me out on the deck and I heard a humming sound coming from under the glider. I couldn't figure it out. Mom came to see. She pulled the cover out from underneath and all these mad bees came out! I got stung, Mom screamed because one flew up her shirt sleeve and stung her bad. We ran back inside as fast as we could! Dad was really worried.  The bees were all crazy and Dad shut the big door. I found the one that was in Mom's shirt. It was on the inside of the window! Mom smashed it silly. Dad made a salve to put on Mom's arm because it hurt her so bad. Mom and Dad made me sit down so Mom could check my face. I kept licking and scratching my mouth. It hurt. Mom thought maybe I ate one and she opened up my mouth to check. I didn't eat one but the corner of my mouth got a little puffy. Mom said the bees were yellow jackets and they are always mad and mean. Mom said she's going to get rid of them tonight so we don't get hurt again. I got a treat to help me feel better and I sat down with Dad until we fell asleep.

Here's hoping you don't ever get stung!

Dear Terry, Mom's been pretty busy lately so I haven't been able to write to you! Yesterday we had some good excitement here at the house. Dad had to go to the Doctor's office and Auny Krissy came to pick him up! She came in the house and everything. Oh my gosh I couldn't stop barking and barking that's how exciting it was! It wasn't so exciting though when Dad left. Then Mom left. Me and Penny Cat had to be good by ourselves. It seemed like a long time before Dad came back but Aunt Krissy came in again with him! I couldn't take all the fun so I barked and barked some more!! Dad was feeling pretty tired so we took a nap together. Dad naps and I keep watch. That's what I do. What Dad does is SNORE. A Lot. Today looks like a good day for a walk in the park. Mom already said we are going later on this afternoon. Sometimes she surprises me and we pick a different place to go for the walk. Wonder where we might go today!

Dear Terry, This morning, I got to play outside on the deck before Mom went to work. All kindsof stuff goes on in the morning out there. I help Mom water all the plants. It was hot, so I went back inside with Dad. Me and Dad took a big nap today. But when Mom got home, I wanted to go for a walk. Mom said we had to wait a bit until it wasn't so hot. We went when it was almost dark. We were down by the water looking for frogs and toads. This little girl and boy came running over to us! They were very excited about something. OOOO they had a tadpole in a jar that they had caught and were telling me and Mom all about it. They caught it all by themselves right in the water! I barked to let them know it was a good catch! Their Mom was laughing too because she was so happy they had caught it. What a great time. I didn't know what a tadpole was but they let me see in the jar. It's almost a frog and almost a fish! I have never seen one before so this was really big excitement at the park!

Dear Terry, Oh my Gosh! Mom went out this morning and you won't believe who she brought back! She brought back Santa!! I didn't know what to do! She brought him right into the house! He's almost as tall as Mom! Oh my gosh SANTA! Mom said she found him in the store and thought maybe I should meet him. The only things I could think of were all the bad things I might have done so far this year! He doesn't say much. He only speaks when Mom is around. But he said, FRED NO CHASING PENNY. How did he know??? I barked a whole lot and ran around in a circle and barked at him some more!! I was trying to tell him I only chase her because she runs! That's not too bad right??? I ran downstairs to find Penny to tell her to hurry up and come see Santa. She said, Does he know I chase cats??? Oh my GOSH!! I ran back upstairs right to Santa and barked at him some more. Mom and Dad kept laughing. Mom took Santa to the basement. I bet he is going to check out the best place to come into the house at Christmastime!

Dear Terry, Today is all rainy so me and Mom didn't go for our morning walk. Rainy days can be fun days! Today, I am planning on helping Penny Cat be my friend. I've been working hard at that. I now go down the steps slowly instead of really fast so I don't scare her. I almost walk slow when I try and find her. And I have almost stopped barking in her face. That only happens because I get so excited to see her! Yesterday was great because she kept trying to come and see me upstairs. She would run up the steps and stay for a minute or two, then run back down the steps. Penny did stay up a long time the one time. I sat really quiet on the back of the sofa and she almost came in the same room as me!! It was very exciting. I didn't bark at her. Mom says I'm getting closer to being her friend. OH! almost forgot! Mom entered my picture in a contest. If she wins I get a peanut butter sandwich all of my own! We wont know for awhile if she wins or not. I sure hope I get my sandwich! Maybe Mom could put a banana on it for me like Dad does when he makes me an Elvis Sandwich. Better go! I hear Penny Cat meow meowing!

July 15, 2014

Dear Terry, Guess what I did! Mom got home and we went for a walk around the yard. I found a big pile of deer poop and rolled in it!! Mom wasn't paying attention so to me she wasn't saying No Fred....Well, after I did it she said OH FREDDDDDD. It was too much fun!! Then I rolled around in the clover. Most of the poop comes off that way. Mom called me Stink Butt. I think it is her way of complimenting me on a good poop roll! WOOF! Hope you had a roll in poop kindof a day too! What fun!

Love and Woofs, FredDog

P.S. Penny Cat here. Fred is nuts. Now he is nuts and smelly. I hope Mom gives him a Bath. I still hide from him. I have found that if I hide up high above his head, he is busy for hours trying to find me lower to the ground. I sit and watch him. I'm not coming out until he stops eating my food, drinking my water and laying on MY blanket. HUMPH. Stinky Dog.

Dear Terry, Guess What! Me and Mom AND Dad went to the park tonight. What fun! Dad sat swinging on the swings. I don't swing on them. But it was fun to watch Dad. Then me and Mom went walking, but not too far because I don't usually let Dad out of my sight when we go places. Me and Mom walked through all the big ferns and trees by the ponds. We could hear the frogs. Lots of those! We kept on walking for awhile BUT then I stopped I couldn't see or hear Dad!!! I turned around in a panic. How could I let that happen?? I put my nose in the air. SNIFF SNIFF. Where was DAD?! What if something was wrong! Then Mom made me hold still and look at her for a minute until I could think again. And she put the leash down quietly and said WHERE'S your DAD??? and I took off running!! I knew how to find him! I used my nose! I have a good nose you know. I smelled and smelled as I ran and I found him!! He was by the ferns!! It was very good to find Dad. I got big pets from him and Mom finally caught up and gave me big pets too! Mom said she was real proud of me being able to find Dad in the woods.

Oh and then this man came with a machine in his hands and he stopped to talk to me and Mom and Dad. Guess what he did? He used the machine to blow all the green stuff off the ponds!! It was really loud but I stayed right by Dad's leg in case he was scared. Green foam was blowing all around in the pond.  We walked back to the car after all that excitement!

Dear Terry, Me and Mom headed to the park when she got home. Boy did we have some fun! We walked all around and through the trees and the woods. We saw a purple bird and it flew right up over my head! I must have scared it by accident. Oh and I made some fun of my own. Mom thinks I'm weird. But it's fun to play the Bathroom Game! I heard someone in the outdoor bathroom. Just so happens we were walking by and I slowed down. Mom said DON'T. I didn't listen. She tried to tug me to go another way. DON'T FRED. I didn't budge. She said DON'T. Mom knew what I was going to do. FREDDIE NO. As soon as that lady opened the door i WOO WOO'D as loud as I could! Oh that lady jumped at least 10 feet straight up!! The bathroom game is the best game ever!! Everyone always jumps and looks so surprsied! Even when I'm not close. This time I was kindof behind the bathroom so I really surprised her! My tail was wagging so hard Mom thought it would fly off and I was dancing all around on the end of the leash. Mom was laughing like I knew she would and she did try and say Sorry to the lady. I don't think that lady found it as funny as we did! The best bathrooms are the cement ones. You can stick your head in there and bark and it echoes! I do that for fun even when no one is in there.

July 9, 2014

Dear Terry, Today started off kindof boring. But this afternoon things got much more exciting. Dad took out the vacuum. I tried to remember all the things Juneau Cat warned me about. It's the Dog Eliminator, it will eat me alive and spit me out as a clump of fur. He even told me once that I would get sucked in, never to be seen again. It was all too much!! I started barking and barking at Dad. He wouldn't stop, I wouldn't stop barking. Then I ran all through the house. I stopped to see Penny Cat and she told me Dad had the Dog Eliminator out because I was a bad dog for chasing her. Oh my gosh!!! I took off running and landed on the couch face first! Mom said WHAT on earth are you doing??? She sat with me for a minute, I couldn't stop barking and was all out of breath trying to tell her everything. Mom understood though and she grabbed the leash and we went outside until Dad was done. WHEW! Thank goodness Mom was there this time!!

REALLY trying to be good now,

Love FredDog

July 7, 2014

Dear Terry, Me and Mom got up and went to the Nature Park today. What a great time! We saw lots of birdies and butterflies. Tons of bull frogs there! Good breeze going with lots of smells. And what did Mom do to me??? She said HEY! Looks like the water pump might be working Fred! We went over to see and Mom made the handle go and all of a sudden WATER EVERYWHERE! I started barking and Mom started laughing. We got all wet!! It really came out fast! It felt good though since it's hot outside! Mom was busy taking pictures as we walked. She even took one of me! That's me on the bridge. I was looking at all the toads on the spillway. Hope you have a great day like me!

Frog Watching!

July 6, 2014

Dear Terry, What a scary few days it's been! Just aweful. All the scary fireworks going off in the neighborhood. They scare me silly. Mom and Dad tried to help but sometimes I was too scared to even set foot out the door to do my business. I didn't have any accidents though. Mom watched the fireworks on TV without the sound because that scared me too. I had my special shirt on for days it seemed. Even Penny Cat was scared because the noise was so loud and scary. Mom tried to put cotton in my ears to help but I kindof freaked out so she took it out. I'm so glad the holiday is over. It really wasn't fun at all.

I have still been trying to play with Penny Cat. If I sit still long enough she pokes her head out. And then I mess up and go trotting over to see her right away. I bark hello but then she runs and hides from me. And I sit some more and wait. I just know one day she will come over to me on her own. I wish I could sit still forever so that she wouldn't get scared. But I have problems sitting still for very long. I keep trying though. I won't give up on her being my pal!

July 3, 2014

Dear Terry, We had a really big scary a few days ago. Dad fell really bad on the steps in the basement again. It was so loud and he was so hurt. I ran to Mom right away. Mom was already on her way to him. And Mom had to take him to the ER, which is like a fancy Vet, you know. He has a big lump on his head. But he came home! He didn't have to stay there. Mom says he was really lucky. Dad's still really sore and he isn't moving so fast. He must have gotten his feet mixed up again. Sometimes that happens. I'm so glad he came home. I've been helping him too. When he is having a hard time standing up, I give his hand a nudge to keep him trying. If he gets wobbly, I nudge his hand then too, so he has to stop to see what I want. When he lays down, I lick the bump on his head to make it go away. I'm not having much luck with that part yet but I keep trying. When he goes to sleep I lay right by his face and stare at him. I have to watch to make sure he is OK. And that way, as soon as he wakes up he knows I'm there to help some more! Oh! And I helped him make some snacks today. I like ham and cheese. Mom says I'm doing a good job too because Dad starting to feel better already!

Penny Cat is still avoiding me. But I have been trying hard to be as good as I can. One day she is not going to hide from me and I won't do things that scare her silly. Mom says she hopes that day comes soon!

Dear Terry, We had quite the excitement here last night! I helped Mom put dishes in the Leftover Machine. I'm not supposed to lick anything going in there. I don't always listen to that rule. Anyway! then we went outside to walk around the yard before bedtime. When we got back in I heard a Fizzy sound! What was that! Penny doesn't Fiz. She Meows. I ran to the kitchen. BUBBLES!! EVERYWHERE!! Oh my Gosh it was too exciting! A big pile of 'em!  And more was coming out of the Leftover Machine!! Mom turned it off real quick, opened up the door and even MORE bubbles came out!!!! This was too much fun!! I didn't know it doubled as a Bubble Machine! Mom did something on the front then started it back up again and MORE bubbles!! I started to bark but Mom went SHHHHHHH Don't tell your Dad!!! We had a ton of fun cleaning up all the bubbles the second time. Mom even scooped them out of the inside for me! Mom had to do that 3 or 4 times until all the bubbles went away. Mom finally did tell Dad but only because there was a pretty wet spot on the floor from all the bubbles! Dad just looked at Mom and said, So you used the wrong soap????? Mom was awfully tired last night....

Dear Terry, I got in some trouble this afternoon. BIG trouble. Mom was really mad at me. Penny Cat was in the basement window watching birdies. I know because I was sitting on the floor watching her. Mom came down to see Penny and she came out to see Mom. That's where things went wrong. I was so excited I started barking and chased her and she got scared. We knocked a few things over. Mom yelled ENOUGH! Oh boy was I in trouble! I slid to a stop and sat down. Penny went into hiding. Mom made me go upstairs. She wouldn't even talk to me or look at me. I put my head down and tried to follow her around hoping she would talk to me. It was awful. Mom always talks to me. I finally laid down at her feet and whined so maybe she would at last say something. She sighed. Then she gave me a pet! Whew! I thought she would never stop being mad at me. I'm going to try really hard not to chase Penny Cat. I don't want to be in the Dog House again!!

Trying to be a good dog, FredDog.
June 28, 2014

Dear Terry, Sad news. Juneau Cat isn't coming back, he was just too sick. Mom said he was your friend too. I've never seen Mom and Dad so sad before. I tried my best to cheer them up. I think they miss him a whole lot. He was old as dirt and knew all kinds of stuff. Mom, Dad and him were the best of friends. They had an idea though. Mom calls it Operation Good Dog. I didn't know what that was at first. Mom says that it means no more gate, that me and Penny Cat can be full time friends now. But for that to happen I have to be GOOD. Like better than better. Gooder than good. GOOD. Penny keeps hiding from me though. Mom says maybe that's because I'm not being good enough. I'm not allowed to chase her or bark like a wild dog. I have to be calm so she doesn't get scared. I think it is working. She keeps peeking out at me and then I lose her! She's pretty smart at outsmarting me. She must like me because she lets me eat all the leftover food in her bowl and drink her water. Mom says that has to stop. Sigh. This being GOOD is hard! I can tell Penny misses Juneau Cat because she keeps checking his bed and the sofa. Mom said that it is up to me to help her not be sad and be her friend. So I will be GOOD!

Love and Woofs, FredDog

P.S. Penny Cat here. I don't know WHAT Mom and Dad are thinking letting FredDog loose in the house. All I want is my friend Juneau Cat to come back. Instead, FredDog is running amok everywhere now. He eats all my food, drinks my water. Mom said she will fix that so he can't do it anymore.  He sat on my blanket!! I wish he would calm down a bit so I can tell him we can be friends but there are some RULES he has to learn. Like I'm first in this house. But he is kindof fun to be around. And I like to tell him stuff. Maybe this isn't so bad after all. I miss Juneau.

Dear Terry, I bet you have been wondering what Mom has been up to! SCRATCHING that's what!! Like she has fleas or something. Mom says it is poison ivy. Arms and Legs and Hands! She puts stinky stuff on it every day. Dad says the calamine lotion is her new perfume. All I know is that it smells weird. Even Juneau Cat wrinkles his nose at the smell.  Last year I pooped in poison ivy and Mom didn't clean up my poop that time. So Mom is smelly and itchy!! But we still go for walks. Mom keeps an eye out for poison. I keep an eye out for critters!

Dear Terry, Mom's been pretty busy still. She was real worried about Juneau Cat again and he had to go to the VET. But he came back! He's kindof walking slow and trips but he came back! It was so good to see him. I thought for sure he was going to go to his forever home in the sky. One time me and Mom watched All Dogs go to Heaven. It was almost as good as watching Snow Dogs! Today after Mom made sure Juneau Cat was ok, me and Mom and Dad went for a walk in the park. Dad was going to read. But when we got there, he said LET'S WALK! So we walked all over the place in the park! No frogs. Plenty of birds though! We even went into the little cottage and Dad signed his name for us. And guess what!? Dad walked 1/2 a mile!! He sure did! His feet must be feeling good! It's the longest he has walked in a long time. Afterwards Mom took us to the Burger Palace for breakfast sandwiches. I accidentally drooled all over Dad. Ooops. I like bacon and sausage. A Lot.

June 21, 2014

Dear Terry, I had the best afternoon! Me and Mom went shopping and for a walk! First we went into town so Mom could put gas in the car. I sat real good in the car while she did that. I didn't even slobber on the window. Then we went for a walk in the Nature Park. What a great place. We started jogging up the big hill. I stopped dead. Something was behind us making all kinds of noise. It was a TURKEY. How did we run past him?? He must have been hiding pretty good for me not to smell or see him! He sounded mad too. THEN he started coming towards us and I started barking but he didn't stop. He should have listened to me. I gave him a warning. I lowered my head and all my fur stood up and I showed him all my teeth and growled and snarled at him and charged him until I hit the end of the leash. He backed off real quick then! After all that excitement we did a loop of the park then came back down off the hill and went to see if there were any frogs at the pond. I wasn't even scared of all the people fishing. I was brave enough to scare off a turkey I can go to the pond with fishermen! Me and Mom picked a place next to this lady fishing. She was real nice but I kept an eye on that pole. After the park, we went to the Tractor Supply Store. It has to be the best store ever! We walked through all the aisles. I like the horse aisles. All kinds of good smells there. The cashier ladies love me. One had treats and I did some of my tricks like sit and shake paws and spin and then I waved Bye-Byes and everyone cheered!! Boy did I get the treats after that one! Mom bought me a pig ear that I picked out and she got a root beer. It was the best afternoon!

Dear Terry, Mom's been busy lately so I haven't been able to get her to write for me. She's been working early and late! Don't worry, Dad takes care of me and the cats though. I was by myself yesterday for the big storms. I didn't pee or poop or throw up or dig any holes in the carpet. But when Mom came home I was so excited to see her I shoved her so hard she almost fell over. I didn't mean for that to happen. She dropped all her stuff too. She sat right down on the floor with me and gave me a big hug and I knew everything was going to be OK. When Dad came home from Pap's it was a big relief! Everything was right in the house again. I ran and told Penny Cat. She gave me lots of Meow Meows. Now I'm going to help Dad pack Mom's lunch. I always get some ham and cheese for helping!

June 15, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! Me and Mom and Dad went for a car ride today. And guess where we went!? We went to Pap's House! You know why? Because it was Father's Dad! I said a quick hello to Gram and went looking for Pap as soon as we got to their house. He was in my favorite room of all. The Sun Room. Lots of windows that come almost all the way to the ground so I can see out and see all the squirrels running around. Pap gave me big pets and slapped me on the side. He pretended to shoot his finger at me but I'm onto that trick! So I barked at him! I got to sit on the couch with him and Dad. Dad and Pap fell asleep at the same time. They even went to the basement but I stayed at the top of the steps and barked at all of them down there. When we got home me and Dad were POOPED OUT. We took a big nap. Dad is still pretty pooped. But I helped Mom on the deck some before laying back down. Whew!

June 12, 2014

Dear Terry, Have you heard the storms?? I don't like them so much. Yesterday Dad came up with a great idea though. He ordered PIZZA! He said Fred, nothing cures being scared more than PIZZA! YAY!! I love pizza parties! This time Dad got sausage on the pizza instead of our usual pepperoni. How great is that! We both burped a lot. That's ok, Mom wasn't home to hear.

Juneau Cat is doing much better. I bet Mom is making the diabetes go away. He was feeling so good he came up to the gate and hissed right in my face. I am still hoping when he gets better he won't be so mean to me. At least he seems to be much happier. Mom gives him smooshie food twice a day. You know why it's called smooshie food? Because you SMOOSH it on the plate then eat it! Only I don't get to smoosh it, I get to lick the cat food spoon, Juneau Cat and Penny Cat get the plates with the smooshie food. They never seem to leave any on the plates for me. But I get pizza and they don't! Woof!

June 10, 2014

Dear Terry, Today got even more exciting! I was out on the deck with Mom and we heard quite a ruckus in the woods across the creek and I could hear Jimmy, the neighbor dog, barking and barking. he had gotten lose again! I think he was barking at the rabbit family. He was making all kinds of noise and then his head would pop up and we could see him. I barked so he would know I was there. Mom ran in the house to get a leash and some treats. Jimmy likes treats. He came up on the deck once to visit. Pretty soon though we heard JIMMMYYYY and he took off for home. Mom gave me the treats instead! How great was that!

Mom and Dad had Juneau Cat to the vet yesterday. Mom said he hasn't been feeling good lately. Turns out he has diabetes. I don't know what that is. But I was thinking, if he got better he wouldn't be so mean to me. He could maybe be nice like Penny Cat and give me kisses and some head butts. I don't know though, he is old as dirt and maybe doesn't want to change. Mom says he is 17 years old. I'm not allowed to be near him because I knock him over and kindof hurt him once. I hope he gets better. Things wouldn't be the same without me getting a good hiss in the face!! And who would warn me about the dangers of the vacuum!??

June 10, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day already! I woke Mom early, even though she worked late. I couldn't help it ! So much going on in the yard! The dog walkers were going by, the rabbit family was close to the house and there was a deer in the backyard!!! I kept barking until Mom woke up to see it all! We went outside but everyone had gone. That's OK because I got to see everyone from my window in the bedroom. Mom keeps a trunk there so I can stand on it to see out. I'm short you know. And she keeps the drapes tied back so I don't accidentally pull them down trying to see out. That's happened before and Mom isn't happy when that happens! Dad laughs but Mom doesn't. Woof!! Hope the rest of the day is this great!

Dear Terry, Last night we had a big scary! Mom came home and she wanted to watch a movie. I like Movie Nights. We eat popcorn and all sit together on the couch. Mom said the movie was called House on Haunted Hill. It was in black and white. I like those kind. Dad was getting stuff ready in the kitchen and Mom got the movie going. She said it was a scary movie. We got into our spots on the couch and OH MY GOSH. Some lady SCREEAMMMMMMEEEEDDDD.  I barked and growled, Mom jumped up, the remote went flying and Dad ran into the room thinking it was Mom. Mom couldn't stop laughing. It was the start of the movie!!! and the sound was really loud!!! Dad yelled I thought it was YOU!!! Mom kept laughing and turned the sound down. After all that, the movie wasn't so scary!

This morning me and Dad went out on the deck to do some stuff. But first we sat in the sun together and before you know it we fell asleep! We slept for a long time. What a good time! Me and Mom are going for a walk later on today. I hope I get to see the park ladies again!

Love and Woofs, FredDog.
June 4, 2014

Dear Terry, Me and Mom went to the Nature Park this morning! AND we saw the Park Ladies! They gave me lots of pets and told me how great I was! They took my picture again.  Mom talked to them about the birdies in the park that we see all over the place. Then we went walking all around the trails. We went on one trail got muddy, I jumped the mud and stayed pretty clean. Mom jumped the mud and didn't stay so clean. Mom needs to jump better. And we walked around the ponds but no frogs today. But what a great time! Dad gave me some ham when we got home. YUMMY!

June 3, 2014

Dear Terry, I thought today was going to be a bust. It was raining this morning. Mom said don't worry it will go away and it did! We went for a walk this morning in the park. We like the park. We saw geese and blue birds. The blue birds were sitting on their blue bird boxes singing away. No one was on the trails. We walked up the big hill again and walked all around the top of the hill. We had to go slow coming down though because of all the mud. Mom picked some ticks off of me too. I don't like ticks. When we got home Dad gave me ham and some cheese! I don't think this day could get any better!  I'm going to go lay out on the deck now since the sun is out! A good place for a nap.

June 2, 2014

Dear Terry, Yesterday was jammed pack with stuff for me to do! I helped Mom on the deck plant more plants. She even let me dig a little dirt. Just a little. We played let's find Dad outside again!! That is too much fun! We walked all through the yard to pick up sticks. I saw more toads and frogs by the creek. I was outside all day long. I fell asleep in the sunshine. Mom gave me a puppy pop to cool off and a big bucket of ice water on the deck. Lots of fire trucks went by all at once. Usually I bark at them. This time I put my nose to the sky and howled and howled. The people across the street said WHAT is that??? It's me silly! Mom said it sounded like the call of the wild so I must have gotten the howl down just right!  WOOO WOOO WOOOOOOOOOOO.

May 31, 2014

Dear Terry, Me and Mom had such a fun day today! First I was a good helper dog. I helped water plants, check the yard, helped clean the kitchen. Then Dad went outside to do stuff and me and Mom played Find Dad outside! Me and Mom ran to the garage but no Dad. I stopped smelled the air, and knew where Dad was! We trotted down the sidewalk but I couldn't see him. I could smell him but couldn't see him. Mom helped me a little bit, she took me around the garbage cans so I could see and there was DAD!!! I was barking and Dad was laughing! I found him I found him!!After all that exctiment, me and Mom went to the nature park for a walk. No one else was in the park at all. We went all over the place. Down by the water we kept hearing plunk, plunk, plunk in the water. Lots of plunks. Turns out I was looking for frogs and toads to nudge into the water and that was all the plunking sounds. Frogs EVERYWHERE on the banks. I didn't even have to nudge them, they went plunk on their own! What a great day this was!

Dear Terry, Scary storms yesterday. Mom put my shirt on for me when she got home.  Dad slept through all of them!! I chewed my foot a whole lot. Mom said that's not so good so we played my games until I was running around barking like normal again. Last night after Mom fell asleep, I heard Dad in the kitchen. I went to see what he could be doing. Sometimes we have snacks at night and sure enough! that's what Dad was doing. He gave me a piece of hot dog. I was so excited, I grabbed it and ran to Mom and woke her right up and plopped it right on her chest. She broke it in half and gave me half and then gave me the other half too! I love hot dogs! What a great treat that was last night!

Dear Steve, Mom says I get to write you a special letter today because you are a Vietnam Veteran. I don't know what that is, but Mom says that means that you had an important job to do and you did it really well. And it's important to remember that. So Happy Memorial Day! I don't know how to salute but I can wave pretty good now. I hope you get to eat lots of burgers. Dad is firing up the burger machine today so I will eat a burger for you in case you don't get one! Me and Mom took a walk already this morning in the big park. We went up the big ridge all the way to the top and back down again. Then we went by the reservoir and saw geese so I barked at them. They honked back at me. Silly birds! I'm going out now to help Mom on the deck get things ready so that Dad can make a good dinner. I bet we get hot dogs too!

May 24, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! I am pooped out! First, I was out on the deck all morning long in the sunshine. I watched over the Robin Family in their nest. Then I watched Mom do some weed wacking on the hill. Later on Mom took a nap outside on the deck so I stayed outside with her to watch over things. When she woke up we went to the nature park for a walk. I was going to go the way we always go but Mom said no today we are doing everything backwards! So we started where we usually end, and ended where we usually start! I had lots of fun. We met people on the trail and they gave me lots of pets because I'm so cute. Then we saw the Park Ranger lady that took my picture last year. Oh! and the little house was open and I was allowed inside and we got to see everything in there. Mom signed the park book for us. I can't write yet, plus it was up on the counter and I was too short anyways to reach it. After that we went down by the water and there were some people fishing. I did ok. I was afraid but not too afraid. And Mom made me go across the little bridge where someone was fishing on the bridge. I closed my eyes so I couldn't see him and walked across the bridge that way. I only opened my eyes when my feet hit the grass. Mom was laughing, she said Fred, you almost walked over the side of the bridge silly! Keep your eyes open! We got back to the car and we both took a big drink of water. Whew! I haven't slept all day long and I'm taking Spot to my bed to sleep!

Dear Terry, Today I got a big surprise! Mom came home early!!! I couldn't stand the excitement. I ran and barked at Dad, ran all through the house barking. I couldn't stop! all I could think of was MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM MOM. And then she came in the door and I got so excited I shoved her and took off running and barking! And I ran back to her and bonked right into her legs, so I barked and ran around some more! Mom doesn't come home early very often and this was a big surprise!! Mom said it was because of the holiday coming up. I don't care why, only that she came home early! She had to sit on the ground for a minute and pet me until I could stop barking. She said Dad was going to fire up the Hot Dog machine and make me some hot dogs this weekend. And she is going to make me a batch of Puppy Pops too. Yummy Good frozen peanut butter treats for me!

Dear Terry, Today something scary happened and Dad missed it all! Me and Mom put up the umbrella this morning on the deck. Well, all was good until it got windy and Mom wasn't home! I heard it creaking and making a noise and I ran into the kitchen in time to see out the door and saw the umbrella go up in the air! And then it flew away and I saw it hit the tree and fall down. I ran and got Dad but he couldn't underdstand what I was trying to tell him. He looked out the backdoor with me but he didn't see anything. That was what I was trying to tell him!! I wish Dad could bark it would be so much easier for him to understand me! Mom came home later on and she saw the umbrella right away. And when we went outside she said OH FRED! How did this happen! And I told her all about it. We put it back up on the deck. Dad laughed he had no idea that the umbrella was gone! Oh Dad! But Mr. Robin's nest wasn't hurt or anything. Whew!

May 19, 2014

Dear Terry, Dad locked Mom out of the house again by accident. Mom always says "lock the screen door", so Dad does. Only this time when Mom came home Dad was ASLEEP! You know what that means. He sleeps like he is dead. Sometimes I bark in his face to make sure he is still alive. Mom tried calling the phone. No Dad. She tried yelling in the door. No Dad. But don't worry, I was there to help out! Mom said Fred, Go get your Dad! I know what that means. That's when we play hide n seek and I have to find Dad in the house! I knew what to do to help! I ran and jumped on the bed and barked and barked until Dad opened his eyes. Then I ran back real quick to Mom to tell her I found him! And I ran back to Dad but his eyes were closed again, so I had to bark some more! And I ran and told Mom, then ran back to Dad and barked some more just because! We went together to the front door and let Mom in. Mom said it was like we were in a Lassie episode! I like Lassie only Dad wasn't in a well, only the bedroom.  The End!

Dear Terry, Guess what Mom bought? A fishing pole! I'm scared silly of them so I can't imagine what on earth she was thinking bringing one into the house. I barked at it. Then I stood all the way across the room from it. Mom called me over. I didn't go. She called me over again and I walked over but not too close. And then she called again. I went over and she held it for me to sniff. Smelled like a fishing pole. I smelled the whole thing top to bottom. Then I pushed it with my nose. That was enough. Stupid fishing pole. I walked away. Mom said that was pretty good but I still have to get used to them. I don't know why I do but Mom says so. Maybe that was all she wanted me to do - smell it and be done with it. Dad laughed and said we can practice fishing off the back of the deck. Not me. And fish are scary. Like sea monsters. I bark at them too. Hope Mom puts it away and forgets about it.

Dear Terry,  We didn't go for a walk yesterday. We went instead to the DOG PARK!! YAY!! I ran and ran. Met other dogs, I barked, they barked. I dug a hole just because I could. Mom filled it back up though. We had such a good time! Mom made me leave when I had spit and boogers on my face. Don't worry, Mom cleaned that right up when we got to the car. Then we rode all around the park looking at stuff. Mom said we might go back today since I had such a good time with the other dogs. We do dog stuff. I'm still not allowed to roll in poop though. Oh! and for dinner we had swiss steak, Mom let me have a little piece of it too. What a great day it was!

Dear Terry! The rain finally stopped! As soon as I was awake this morning, I ran all around the house. No rain in the back, no rain in the front! I woke Mom up right away to let her know we could go outside now. We walked all around the house and the yard checking on things. Everything is OK, I made sure. Then we came in and woke Dad up. Penny Cat said Good Morning! But no kisses this morning. I think it might be because I barked in her face last night. I couldnt stop barking. Sometimes that happens and Mom has to say FRED. Or Penny bonks me in the face. Mom says we can go for a walk later on. She thinks it will be muddy so I bet she takes a towel so she can clean me off at the park. I better go, Dad is making something to eat!!

May 14, 2014

Dear Terry, Sorry I haven't written in awhile. Me and Mom have been doing stuff! Lots of stuff. We went to see Gram on Mom's Day. That was fun the house was filled with people. Gram even said I was being good! How about that! Mostly me and Mom have been walking and planting plants. Last night was very exciting because I was on the deck and Mom was mowing the backyard. I watched her go back n forth. Not as exciting as when Neighbor John plows the driveway though. And Mr. Robin is all done with his nest. But no baby birdies yet. And so far Mr. Robin has only managed to peck me in the head once. Oh and at night Mom puts my shirt on almost every night because of the storms. I don't like those. Last night, Mom had some of my favorite pepperoni treats and when it started to storm, she would ask me to do a trick like Sit, or Touch or Spin. If I was too scared to do the trick then I didn't get the treat. But I can tell you, I did good! I got lots of treats and didn't get the shakes at all during this batch of storms! I didn't even throw up!

Dear Terry, Gram came and picked up Dad today. Dad said he hoped his feet would pass inspection by the doctor. When he came home he was awfully pooped out but he was so happy. Dad said he was allowed to wear shoes again! Dad said that means he can do a few more things. Like go for walks with me and Mom. Little walks, not the big walks me and Mom take. Dad didn't even have bandages on his foot. I try and help Mom change those every day. Mom says no more of that since his feet are better! Dad said, Fred, Let's Celebrate Good Feet Day! I barked and barked. I had no idea how to celebrate Good Feet Day. Dad said the best way to celebrate it is to take a big nap. And we did! It was good to see Dad so happy.

May 7, 2014

Dear Terry, Today started out kindof scary with the storms. Mom put my thundershirt on me though and Dad and me snuggled in on the recliner so things weren't so bad. When Mom came home we had a much better time. The sun was almost out and it was warm. We went out on the deck and Mom worked on planting plants. I helped. We planted peas in the pea pots. Tomatoes in the tomato pots. Lettuce in the big long lettuce box. Oh! And Mr. Robin is back!! He isn't building a nest under the deck this year. This year he decided to build his nest in the tree branches right next to the deck!! Almost at eye level so I can still spy down and see the baby birdies. He told me in no uncertain terms to stay away and I would get pecked in the head if I got to close. He sat right on the deck rail and told me. Mom said I had better listen. I'm sure he won't mind though if I just peeked once in awhile!

May 6, 2014

Dear Terry, Tonight was all crazy!! First Mom came home and me and Dad were in the driveway. When she got out of the car I pulled Dad with all my might to get to my Mom! Dad let the leash go so I could RUN right at her. And you know what!? She surprised us with HOT DOGS! And if that wasn't crazy enough, after dinner me and Mom went for a walk in the park. We walked along the water since there weren't any scary fishermen. I was looking for frogs and toads to push into the water and who knows what Mom was doing, but she wasn't paying attention. All of a sudden a GIANT bird flew up right in front of us! It had super long legs and giant wings and a big head. It was all flappy and noisy. I barked! He really surprised us! Mom said it was the blue heron that likes the water there. I don't know about him being blue, all I know is he had giant flappy wings!  He's bigger than a turkey and taller than Mom. After all that commotion, we saw the mallards. They go QUACK QUACK and float on the water. I barked at them too. I don't float so I stayed out of the water. After all this craziness I am going to get Spot and lay down and watch baseball with Dad. Whew!

May 4, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! I talked a lot to Penny Cat today. She was very meowy. She doesn't like it either when Mom and Dad both aren't here. I keep her company sometimes , like today, at the gate. Juneau Cat hissed in my face. He still doesn't like me. I kept an eye on the house. I watched everything the neighbors did. And then I heard a familiar sound. I couldn't see them yet but I know the sound of the car! Mom and Dad were coming home!! They smelled like baseball. I could smell the hamburger and popcorn and the crowd. I've never been to a game but I watch it on TV a lot with Dad. Mom says I might one day go to a game but it's in the city. I don't like busy places. I like the woods. But I like baseball. I ran all around the house barking and barking when they came down the driveway. I got so excited to see them that I almost knocked Dad's cane over! OOPS! Have to be careful not to do that. Especially today because Dad was so wobbly when he got home. Gotta go Mom is heading out to work on the deck!! There is a good breeze going so I can smell all the smells of the yard!

May 3, 2014

Dear Terry, Guess what Dad gave me today! The peanut butter jar!! The JAR! He took the lid off it and everything for me! Mom saves the almost empty ones in the winter time in case I get nutty and need something to do on a cold day. I hardly ever see them in the spring or summer. And guess what else?? Mom put treats in it. They stuck to the bottom so I had to work and work to get them out of there. Which was OK with me since it gave me a chance to lick out all the leftover peanut butter. It takes forever but it was very exciting when I managed to get them out one at a time. You have to roll the jar with your foot to get all the peanut butter goodness out of there. Mom said it kept me busy for almost an hour today. I don't know how long that is, but Dad finally took the jar away since I have cleaned it all out. Good stuff! Dad sure does come up with good ideas! I had to take a big drink of water after all that!

April 30, 2014

Dear Terry, Last night sure was scary. There was big thunder and lightning. Mom ran and found me. I was glued to the floor I was so scared. I couldn't move an inch. She tried to get me to come up on the bed but I wedged my head under the bed instead. It doesn't really fit under there but the thunder seemed less loud with my head underneath. Mom laid down on the floor and grabbed a blanket for us. She covered me all up and held me tight and covered my ears as best she could. I didn't think it would ever end. We finally got up and went into the bed and I snuggled in super tight in case another storm came. Today was every bit as scary. Dad was with me though. We dove under the covers and waited for the storms to end. Dad and me split some pepperoni pizza after the storms passed. I almost forgot how scared I had been. Mom came home and I couldn't stop running around telling her all about the day! OH Almost forgot! You have a birthday coming up too! I hope you have some good cake. Maybe you should ask your Mom to make you a cake with icing!

Trying to be brave, FredDog.

April 28, 2014

Dear Terry, Lots of rain today. That means no walks with Mom. Me and Dad stayed indoors and we had plans to do lots of stuff. But then we fell asleep. Lots of stuff didn't get done. We woke right up when Mom came home though! I woke up Dad with all my happy barking and running around! Me and Mom went outside and guess what we heard??? MOOOOOOOOO. One of the cows was down by the road again!  I didn't moo back. I did bark a little bit but Mom said SHUSSSH people are sleeping, let the cow mooooo. She can be a pretty loud moo-er so I bet The Farmer comes and gets her even in the dark. I got to see her and her friends once when they came almost into the yard last year. I barked a whole lot then and they moved back from the road. Mom let me that time because then they didn't get hurt by a car on the road. She's not on the road this time but she is close by! Moooooo!

April 27, 2014

Dear Terry! Another fine spring day! At first I thought me and mom weren't going to go anywhere. She was so busy doing stuff. I was allowed on the deck all morning long though. So far Mr. Robin hasn't built a nest underneath the deck. I keep watching for him. Finally, mom was all done with her chores and she grabbed the keys and we went to the park! And guess what! we walked the whole entire park. One big giant circle. Up the big hill and all around the top. We walked nice and easy. We saw a groundhog. He was pretty fat. Then I knew that there were deer up ahead so I barked and we saw them take off down the big hill. We got almost to the very end of the trail and there was a big mud pit! No way around it because of all the brambles and no wood to make a bridge like Mom did once for us. So I did the next best thing and RAN through it with Mom running behind. The mud went everywhere! I was barking, she was laughing and we kept on running to the end of the trail! Don't worry, Mom cleaned my feet off before I even got in the car. Mom had to clean her feet off too. What a mess! What a great time!

April 26, 2014

Dear Terry, Today started out really nice but then went a little off the tracks as Mom says. Me and Mom and Dad were out on the deck all day long. I fell asleep in the sunshine and Dad fell asleep in his chair. Mom had me worried though because she took apart the Hamburger Machine. She said she was cleaning up the parts. I was worried because it looked like she killed it with all the parts lying around. But she put it all back together again and turned it on and the Hamburger Machine worked again! We went for a walk too. First, I had trouble getting in the jeep. Then I fell getting it out of it. That hurt. Really bad. I was limping. No blood this time. Mom wanted to put me back in but I said No Way! Let's walk it off! When we got home me and Mom were trying to tell Dad how I fell. Mom says I need a ramp. And then BANG BANG BANG. The neighbor started shooting his gun so I ran to Mom and she covered my ears and I tucked my head under her arm. And then the fire trucks went by. It was all too much. Mom gave me some cheese to calm me down. Whew. Hope tomorrow is less exciting !

April 24, 2014

Dear Terry, Today was an exciting day! Mom found my ball that Gram had given me. I forgot where I had put it. Yesterday we looked everywhere for it. Mom looked up high in case she had put it somewhere. I looked down low in case I had put it somewhere. No luck! But the this morning we found it under the desk by the door! Then I remembered I had put it there a long time ago. It's a good ball too. It's not a tennis ball. I eat those. It's not a baseball. I chew the covers off. It's a yellow ball! And what a great time me and Mom had with it! Mom throws the ball, then I run and chase it down and catch it! Then I run as hard as I can back to her. Sometimes I give the ball back, sometimes I tease her like she teases me. I fake giving it to her then run around some more! Then she fakes throwing it and I bark! What fun! When I get tired of running around I usually give it to Spot. This time I put it in a good place so I wouldn't forget again where it was. I put it right in my bed. Can't miss it there!

April 22, 2014

Dear Terry, Today was pretty scary. All that thunder and storming going on. I almost couln't take it except Dad was here so I sat right smack next to  him. I was too scared to move for him to even put on my special no scaries shirt. I wish I could be like the cats and not be scared but I tried and it doesn't work. Storms are scary. Dad said don't worry Fred I am right here and he put his hands over my ears. Dad likes storms but he always helps me out. Sometimes I put my head right under his butt. One time I tried to get under the recliner chair and got stuck. That time was really a bad one.  I didn't have any accidents today either and I didn't dig a hole in the carpet like before. Then the sun came out today and it was ok! Dad and I watched baseball tonight so it ended up being a good day. I could finally relax and sleep a bit. Whew! I hope there aren't any more storms. Ever.

April 21, 2014

Dear Terry, Whew! I am so tired I am falling asleep sitting up. In fact, I would be asleep but Dad is running the Dog Eliminator. The stupid vacuum. Juneau Cat told me this time that I was going to sucked into it. He's old as dirt so I believe him, even though half the time I have no idea what he is saying but it sounds scary! But before all the scaries, me and Mom took a ride in the new Jeep. It's a lot like the old jeep but taller and bigger. I still get to be her back seat co-pilot. And best of all there is a vent in the back that blows cold air! How great is that??? Mom said it was put there just for me!! We took a gigantic walk today. We were gone so long that Dad thought we had gotten lost. I love the park. We went all over it. Mom said our goal is to be able to jog up the big hill. That didn't happen today. We walked up without stopping though and neither one of us had to stop to catch our breath at the top. Oh and guess what!? I found a dead squirrel! I was going to pick it up and show Mom but she told me no, leave it alone. Remember last year when I found the dead birdie and I picked it up and showed her? She was so excited at the find she screamed. I don't think she was as excited about this find but I thought it was pretty neat!  Oh and we saw a turkey too. Those are big birds. Dad is finally done vacuuming so I am going to bed.

Good Night Terry! Love FredDog

April 19, 2014

Dear Terry, Boy am I tired! I haven't slept a wink all day long! I helped Mom, she brought all kinds of stuff up on the deck. I kept an eye on the yard and the birdies at the same time. Then we walked all around the yard checking on things. I know what's what so if something isn't right we investigate right away! Mom and Dad went out for a little bit so I had to keep an eye on the house. When they got back me and Mom went for a walk! What a great day for a walk. Breeze was going , it was warm. I got so excited we were going that I ran right past the car! By the time we got to the nature park I was barking non stop because Mom wasn't driving fast enough. We walked up the biggest hill there and then back down again. We walked on the muddy trail and got muddy. We walked by the big ponds where all the fishermen were. Not too close though, I'm still working on not being scared of fishing poles. We walked and walked and walked. Mom says my nose never left the ground because I was smelling all the smells. Back at the car I got to try out my new canteen. Good water! Mom checked me for ticks. No ticks so she didn't have to get the tweezers out. One time I had one right above my eye. That's when I learned you have to sit real still to get ticks off. We don't like ticks. Hope your day was as great as mine was! I'm going to go lay down in my bed. I already put Spot there.

April 17, 2014

Dear Terry, Mom left early again today for work. I wish she wouldn't go. I watched her from the window go down the driveway. Dad said Fred, Don't worry, today is Meatball Day! Meatball Day??? Meatball Day. And it was every bit as good as it sounds! Dad took out the meatballs he had made on the grill and made a gooey sauce to put on them. Oh boy did it smell good. I helped of course! I got to eat a whole one before they went in the sauce to cook some more. Pretty soon I forgot all about being sad that Mom left. How can you be sad when it's Meatball Day? Dad sure comes up with some good days for us to celebrate! Oh and Penny Cat was at the gate again this morning. I only got a kiss this time. I think she was a little worried about running around like we did yesterday. I gave her a lick on the face so she knows she is my pal. Mom said that was a nice thing to do. I think if anyone ever gets down in the dumps, you should have a Meatball Day!

Love FredDog.

P.S. This is Penny Cat again. That crazy Fred Dog licked me right on the head. Took an hour to lick off all the spit! Juneau Cat said that's what I get for trying to be nice to The Dog. I still think Fred is going to be a good friend spit and all. Meow-meow, Penny Cat.

April 16, 2014

Dear Terry, This morning was the most exciting morning ever! Penny Cat was at the gate. You know Mom has been working with us so I don't scare her anymore. And Penny Cat hasn't whopped me in the face in awhile. And I haven't barked at her in awhile. Well, Mom opened the gate so she could kiss me on the nose. And she came all the way through the gate and kissed me on the nose. AND THEN she head butted me AND THEN she wrapped all around my front feet and under my chin rubbing her head on me!! I was holding real still because I'm not supposed to scare her. Mom said my tail was wagging so hard she thought it was going to fly off. I turned my head and my collar jingled and it scared her so she took off running. I thought it was the most exciting thing ever so I ran too! We ran all through the house. She stopped and I stopped. We weren't so sure what to do. She trotted past me back into the kitchen and past Mom and I trotted along behind her. She wasn't too scared though because she stayed on the steps. I was so excited I didn't know WHAT to do so I spinned and spinned in a circle. What a time it was! I hope she does that again! Mom said we were both really good and she hopes tomorrow is even better. Penny Cat sure is a nice kitty and I really want to be her friend. I didn't bark once at her. Mom said it was great because no one had their eye put out, or noses scratched and no hissy growlies. She said best of all I didn't try and climb the dryer or get my head stuck under the bed again. Those happened when I wasn't so good. Me and Penny Cat said good night to each other like we always do. Another great day!

Love, FredDog!

P.S. This is Penny Cat. Fred Dog sure got excited this morning when I ran. I think maybe I shouldn't run and I can head butt him some more. Juneau Cat told me I was an idiot and that The Dog was nothing but trouble. I kindof like him though. We talk each morning. Mom won't let me get hurt. I think Juneau Cat might be wrong about him.  Meow-Meow, Penny Cat.

April 14, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! Did you hear the rain and the thunder? Thunder really scares me but it wasn't so bad today. And Dad was here to make things better for me. He knows I get so scared I can't even move sometimes. I kept hoping the sun would come out but it didn't. Me and Dad had some leftover hamburgers and hot dogs to pick up my spirits. I don't know which I like better! Dad and I read a book too. Well, Dad did the reading since I can't read yet, but I listened real good. It was all about playing card games. Dad says Mom stinks at playing cards but maybe she hasn't read the book yet. I don't know how to play cards but Mom taught me how to play the Shell Game. I'm really good at it. Mom puts a treat under a dish then mixes up a bunch of dishes to try and fool me. I always pick out the one with the treat in it! Mom says it's not really a fair game since my nose can smell out a treat a mile away but we still have tons of fun playing it! Hope you had a good day!

April 13, 2014

Dear Terry, It's HOT outside! And windy. I love to smell all the smells on the wind. I've been out on the deck a lot today helping. Dad fired up the burger machine for us! Burgers and dogs tonight for dinner! And how crazy is this! He put meatballs on the grill too. Dad said he was tinkering with a recipe. I don't know what that means but they sure do smell great!  Maybe Mom will give us some of that vanilla ice cream for dessert again.  Oh and Mom caught a mouse today! Penny Cat is supposed to be handling that but she's been slacking off I think! Mom says she isn't slacking she just isn't a good at holding onto the mouse once she gets it. We let the mouse go by the creek. Mom doesn't like to hurt things so she had set a trap to catch him. I don't know who shrieked more, Mom or the mouse when she let it go, because it came popping up out of the trap once Mom opened it. Very exciting!! Dad found it all very funny!

April 12, 2014

Dear Terry, Spring is here! Spring is here! I knew it was here this morning when I heard all the birdies outside. I woke Mom up right away. She said we had to wait until the sun came up at least before we would go outside. So I waited. I kept checking though to see if she would change her mind. Finally we went outside in all the fog! It was great! And I was allowed to play out on the deck the entire day!! I barked at fire trucks, people walking by, and birdies at the bird feeder. Mom put my water bucket outside for me complete with ice cubes!! How great is that?? I helped clean up the deck and I helped Dad broom off the deck. The umbrella is up so there was shade for me when I got a little hot. Neighbor dog Cheyenne was out in her yard all day too. Sometimes we barked just to bark at each other! Oh and Mom got us ice cream for dessert tonight!! My favorite! Vanilla! What a great start to spring!

April 10, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! This morning me and Mom walked all around the yard and I saw a toad! I pushed him with my nose and he went sploosh! Right into the creek! I don't like fish though. They scare me silly! Then I played out on the deck for awhile. I don't think the blue jays like me too much because they kept squawking  at me. Humph. I showed them, I barked and they flew away. Oh and then me and Dad took a snooze. When Mom got home, we went for a walk in the dark. We made sure everything was OK outside. No Mr. Skunk, but I bet he comes by again tonight. He's really stinky so Mom says I'm not allowed to meet him. Ever. I'm going to sleep now. I have my own bed you know.

April 9, 2014

Dear Terry, I finally am awake again after the big trip and party! Whew! And today is such a nice day outside. I've already spent time playing out on the deck and watching all the birdies. I hope the robins come back and build a nest under the deck again so I can keep an eye on things. Maybe Mr Robin won't peck me in the head again this year. I also helped Mom start some more tomatoes. She said maybe this weekend we can spruce up the deck and get some chairs out since it will be warm again. Today though we are going to go for another walk! I can hardly wait! Dad is staying at home though but I will tell him all about it when I get back. I don't even know what park we are going to and I don't care! The sun is shining and it is warm and me and Mom are going to have a great time, I know it!

April 6, 2014

Dear Terry, What a great party I went to! Nothing beats a birthday party after a long drive in the car! I made sure to say hello to each and everyone there! Then I was a little surprised because I went into the dining room and I smelled birthday cake! It had cream cheese icing like mine. OOOO and I could see it too!! So I stood up and was going to maybe try a piece...FRED GET DOWN. OOOPS not my cake!! Mom moved it up high so I couldn't get any. And then we opened gifts. Lots of paper and boxes and giggling and laughing! Nephew Nolan was playing the piano and I was keeping watch on the yard by looking out the window and all of a sudden a SQUIRREL flew past the window, I went crazy barking!!! Where did he come from??? I ran into Aunt Laura, I ran into the sofa, the chair, Gram Maria, my feet were sliding all over the slippery floor, I couldn't stop barking! I bonked off the coffee table and FINALLY made it to the front door to see that squirrel run up a tree. Next time I'll get him!!! The music kind of stopped for a minute. Mom said I scared the living daylights out of everyone! I almost caused a birthday disaster BUT I bet that squirrel doesn't try and do that again! Oh and Nolan took me for a walk all around the yard in my new harness. I'm real careful when I walk with him so that I don't pull too hard or scare him. What a great walk!! And I sat in the front door window with Nephew Sam. I sat real quiet with him so he knows that I'm a good dog and doesn't have to be afraid. OH and best of ALL. Aunt Sue made bacon!!!! As soon as that package was open, I was there to help in any way I could. She makes it in the oven so a whole bunch of bacon cooks all at once and the smell goes all through the kitchen. I got lots of the cooked bacon as treats!! What a great trip!

Love and Woofs, FredDog

P.S. Juneau Cat told me that him and Penny Cat and Dad all had a No Dog Pizza Party while I was gone. I'm not sure if I should be mad about that or not. So I asked him if he had cake too like I did and He hissed in my face. He still doesn't like me.
April 5, 2014

Dear Terry, Guess what! Today me and Mom are going to a birthday party for Nephew Sam. Mom says cake, ice cream and lots of running around. I bet Uncle Tom and Aunt Linda come too! It's going to be so exciting. I have to remember to tell Dad everything since he is staying home. Mom says it will be lots of fun and everyone will give me lots of pets. They are all good treat givers so I think I will be stuffed by tonight!!

Dear Terry, Got in a little trouble this morning. Not a lot of trouble, because I listened, but a little trouble. Gram came to the house again!! It was very exciting and Dad opened the door to go out with Gram and I charged right out the door!! Dad said, Oh Fred you come here! Gram said, Hi Freddie! And I was still loose outside until Mom said, FRED GET BACK IN HERE NOW. No arguing with Mom! I turned right around and went inside! Because I listened right away to Mom I didn't get in the Dog House. As soon as I was safely inside I got a pet on the head. Forgot I wasn't supposed to go running outside on my own! It was all too exciting with Grammy here! I never get tired of seeing her!

Trying to be a good dog, FredDog!
April 1, 2014

Dear Terry, What a day! And it isn't even lunchtime yet!! Gram and Dad went running somewhere this morning. Ace the dog behind us was bad and chased another dog. I saw the whole thing but I stayed right by Mom. They sure did run fast! Then me and Mom ran errands. We went all over the place. I thought maybe we were going to the firehouse trail since we were in town but she said Nope, the walking trail today Fred! So we rode over there. Oh that wasn't so fun at times. First, Mom parked by the little bridge that scares me. This time I made it half way across before I had a bit of a breakdown. Mom was there to calm me down and we made it across without dying. Whew! Since I was still wound up, Mom said, Let's jog some Fred! Now THAT is fun! We ran and ran until we were out of breath. But then things weren't so fun again because a big dirt digger and a dump truck came onto the trail and they had lights and were beeping and loud engines. I was so scared I got mixed up and tried to get under a car in the parking lot. Don't worry, Mom was there again. We got back on the walking track and then into the grass and she kneeled down in the mud and grass to talk to me. I put my head in her lap so I couldn't see the trucks. Once I could think again, we marched right on by the commotion. I even looked over at them once to see that they were picking up a tree that had fallen over. One of the other walkers clapped when I made it past! She didn't think I could do it! But I did! And then me and Mom ran again! the whole length of the track back to the car! I have so much fun when we run! Sure am glad I had Mom with me today though because I don't know what to do sometimes when I get scared! I think today should be called Running Day because so far that is all everyone has been doing!

Barks and Wags, FredDog!
